The Suite
Set apart on Post Ranch Inn's southern ridge cliffs, Castro House is among the property's most private and exclusive accommodations, a fully freestanding one-bedroom suite with ocean views from virtually every corner. The layout unfolds across several distinct living areas, a foyer, a wood-finished main room with a gas fireplace and leather seating, a well-appointed galley kitchen, a separate media room, and an intimate dining area, alongside a bedroom and bathroom that both open onto sweeping Pacific views. Outside, a generous private patio holds an outdoor soaking tub and lounge seating, making the house feel less like a hotel room and more like a secluded clifftop residence with the ocean as a constant companion.
The Hotel
Post Ranch Inn sits on roughly 100 redwood-covered acres above the Big Sur coastline, built on land that traces back to a Post family homestead and cattle ranch established in the 1860s. Opened in 1992 with an organic, cliff-hugging architecture designed to blend into the Santa Lucia Mountains, the adults-only resort now comprises around 40 rooms and freestanding houses, each with ocean or mountain views and none with televisions or alarm clocks. Guests have access to the acclaimed Sierra Mar restaurant and its award-winning wine cellar, a spa drawing on estate-grown botanicals, infinity and heated basking pools, and a full slate of complimentary activities such as yoga, guided nature walks, and falconry, all of which have helped earn the property recognition as one of a small number of Three Key hotels in the United States under the MICHELIN Guide.
