Under the Lights

The Singapore Grand Prix has been part of the city since 2008, the first night race Formula 1 ever ran. Every year the circuit takes over Marina Bay and the financial district, and for one weekend the centre of the F1 calendar is a stretch of closed public road threading past the Supreme Court and under a 1910 bridge, run at racing speed after dark.

This programme sits at the top tier of that weekend. Three days of Paddock Club hospitality directly above the team garages, on the start/finish straight, with the pit lane below and the skyline behind. The base is the Mandarin Oriental on Marina Bay, chosen for one reason above all others: you can walk back to your suite from the circuit.

Around the racing is the other Singapore. A botanist leading you through the Orchid Garden on Friday morning, a private hawker tour through Maxwell and Chinatown on Saturday, a three-Michelin-star dinner at Odette between sessions. The track runs late and the city runs later, the concerts at the Padang and the bars along the waterfront going well past midnight. Four nights that hold the race and the city in the same hand.

Signature Moments
I Three days in the Paddock Club

Hospitality across practice, qualifying and race day, in the one place on the circuit worth standing: above the team garages, on the pit straight, the start/finish line directly below. Daily pit lane walks, open bars, and drivers and team principals moving through across the weekend. The vantage point, with the pit straight below and the skyline behind, is what the access is for.

II The Orchid Garden, privately

A botanist-led morning inside the Singapore Botanic Gardens, 160 years old and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, with the focus on the National Orchid Garden and its VIP section, where hybrids have been named after visiting heads of state since the 1950s. The quietest hour of the weekend, before the floodlights.

III Maxwell and Chinatown, on foot

A private guide through two of Singapore's best hawker centres, a few minutes' walk apart in the heart of Chinatown: Hainanese chicken rice, claypot rice cooked over charcoal, soya sauce chicken, and kopi made the same way at the same stalls for decades. The clearest window into how the city actually eats.

Day by Day
Day 1 . Arrival
Race weekend eve
PM Arrive on Marina Bay The Mandarin Oriental sits directly on Marina Bay, and by Thursday the circuit is already there from the upper floors: barriers along the waterfront, the start/finish straight in place, the city carrying a charge that builds across the weekend. The afternoon is yours. A short walk along the promenade brings the circuit into close range before racing begins, and the National Gallery is ten minutes away if you want it.
Evening Lau Pa Sat and the satay stalls The evening starts at Lau Pa Sat, a Victorian cast-iron market hall now run as a hawker centre in the financial district. The satay stalls along Boon Tat Street fire up at sundown, and the open-air grilling against the energy of a city the night before race weekend is the right way in.

Day 2 . Practice & Paddock
Botanic Gardens followed by Qualifiers
AM The Botanic Gardens Friday morning is the Singapore Botanic Gardens, 15 to 20 minutes from the hotel, and a private botanist through the National Orchid Garden and its VIP section.
PM Paddock Club, qualifying Then the day turns. Paddock Club access opens in the late afternoon, qualifying running under floodlights as the city darkens around the circuit, you are positioned above the garages with the pit straight below.
Evening Dinner at Odette Dinner is Odette afterward. Julien Royer's three-Michelin-star kitchen is precise and considered, a quieter contrast to the energy of the circuit.
Overnight: Mandarin Oriental, Singapore
Trackside F1 Singapore
The slowest hour and the fastest, in one day.
Day 3 . Saturday
Hawker stalls by day, the busiest night on track
AM Maxwell and Chinatown A private guide leads a morning food tour through Maxwell Food Centre and the Chinatown Complex Market, two of the city's best-known hawker centres within walking distance of each other. Chicken rice, charcoal claypot, soya sauce chicken, kopi.
PM Paddock Club into the evening The Paddock Club opens for the afternoon, track sessions and support programming running into the evening under the lights. Saturday is the busiest day of the weekend, racing stacked against the city's concert and nightlife programme.
Late The night, open After the track, the night is open: the concerts run late at the Padang Stage, and the bars around Clarke Quay and the waterfront carry well past midnight.
Overnight: Mandarin Oriental, Singapore
Singapore F1 night
Claypot over charcoal at noon, floodlights by night.
Day 4 . Race Day
62 laps under the lights
AM An open morning The morning is left open: the pool over Marina Bay, the spa, or nothing at all before the final day.
PM The Grand Prix The Paddock Club opens mid-afternoon. The start of the Singapore Grand Prix, under floodlights in the evening, is the peak of the weekend, 62 laps around a circuit that threads past the Fullerton Hotel, under the Anderson Bridge, and along the waterfront in front of the hotel.
Late The city does not stop After the race, the city does not stop. The post-race scene here is among the most active of any Grand Prix, and the evening is yours to take as far as it goes.
Overnight: Mandarin Oriental, Singapore
Singapore Grand Prix circuit at night
The race threads under a 1910 bridge at full speed.
Day 5 . Departure
The city, resetting
AM A light last morning Monday is the lightest of the five days. The race is done, the city is quieter, and breakfast on the upper floors with the circuit still visible below is a fitting way to spend the last hours. A final walk along the promenade before the barriers come down, then a private transfer to Changi at a time set against your flight. By Monday the energy has shifted, and the city returns quickly to its usual rhythm.
Departure: Changi Airport
Singapore city lights
The barriers come down, and Marina Bay is a road again.
Accommodation

The right base, for two reasons.

Mandarin Oriental Singapore
Mandarin Oriental suite bathroom
Mandarin Oriental Marina Bay view
Mandarin Oriental, Singapore Marina Bay · 4 nights

Two things make this the base for the weekend, and both matter. The first is proximity: the Mandarin Oriental sits directly on Marina Bay, within walking distance of the circuit and the race-weekend venues, so you walk to the pit straight and you walk back, no transfer, no road closures to negotiate. The second is the hotel itself. Suite guests have HAUS 65 on the 21st floor, with breakfast, evening cocktails and a lounge over the bay, and the service runs at the level the rest of the programme is pitched to.

The Marina Bay Suite with Balcony has a separate living space, floor-to-ceiling windows and a private balcony over the bay and, during race weekend, sections of the circuit itself. The bathroom has both a rain shower and a bath. On race day the start straight runs along the waterfront below, which means some of the best sightlines of the weekend are from your own balcony.

Suite Marina Bay Suite with Balcony. Separate living space, floor-to-ceiling windows, private balcony over Marina Bay, bathroom with rain shower and bath, HAUS 65 lounge access on the 21st floor.

A private helicopter giving aerial views of Marina Bay and the circuit infrastructure. Subject to aviation permissions and race-weekend airspace restrictions.

Before You Book

Paddock Club Access

Paddock Club passes are among the most sought-after hospitality tickets on the F1 calendar, with limited availability released well in advance. They are non-refundable and non-transferable, and early confirmation is strongly advised.

Dress & Practicalities

The Paddock Club requires smart casual attire and Odette requires smart dress. Singapore is effectively cashless with English as the official language; visa requirements vary by nationality and should be checked prior to travel.
