Overview

Portugal: Kitchens, Cellars and Open Land

Begin with three nights in Lisbon, where a morning at the market leads to dinner in a private kitchen, and an evening with a Portuguese guitar player ends with fado performed in an intimate setting.

Continue south to the Alentejo for two nights among vineyards, olive groves and Lusitano horses, before travelling north to the Douro Valley. Spend a day on the river between its steep vineyard terraces, stopping for lunch and a tasting along the way.

Finish in Porto with port cellars, an azulejo workshop and time beside the Atlantic. Nine nights connecting four very different parts of Portugal through the people who cook, make, grow and produce there.

Signature Moments
I A Private Kitchen in Lisbon

Visit Mercado de Campo de Ourique with a food guide in the morning, selecting fish, vegetables, cheese and other ingredients for dinner. That evening, sit at a single table or counter while a chef prepares the menu in front of you, shaped around what was sourced that day.

II Fado in Lisbon

Meet a Portuguese guitar player for an introduction to the twelve-string instrument and its place in fado. Later, hear the music in an intimate Lisbon setting arranged through local connections, where conversation stops when the singer begins.

III A Day on the Douro

Spend the day aboard a private boat through the Douro Valley, with vineyard terraces rising steeply from the river on either side. Stop at a quinta for a tasting and have lunch on board or beside the river before continuing through the valley.

Before You Book

When to Travel

April to June and September to October are our preferred periods for this experience. Spring brings mild weather across Lisbon, the Alentejo, Douro and Porto, while September coincides with the grape harvest in the Douro.

July and August can be very hot in the Alentejo, making outdoor activities less comfortable, while harvest season brings higher demand in the Douro.

Our Tailored Experiences give you the inside knowledge and access of a seasoned local, knowing exactly where to stay, where to dine and where to go - before you've even arrived.

BOOK WITH PURPOSE

At Suite Collection, we believe that extraordinary travel should leave the world a little better than we found it. That's the idea behind our Book with Purpose initiative. For every reservation made through our platform, a portion of the proceeds is directed to one of the world's leading non-for-profit charities.

Each month, Suite Collection nominates one of our preferred charities, partnering with our guests to give back to a greater cause.

CONCIERGE ACCESS WITH EVERY BOOKING

Once a reservation is confirmed, a member of our team personally reaches out - not with an automated message, but with a genuine conversation to understand the finer details of the trip, anticipate our guests' needs, and shape the experience around them. That might mean arranging a private transfer, letting the property know about a special occasion ahead of arrival or securing tickets to a VIP event - whatever it takes, we're here to help elevate every journey you embark on.

THE MOST REWARDING LOYALTY PROGRAM

At Suite Collection, we don't do points. Loyalty programmes ask guests to wait and collect - we'd rather listen.

Every stay includes a considered surprise and delight, something chosen because we've taken the time to understand what you actually loves, not because it ticks a rewards-tier box. It's waiting for you when they arrive, not redeemed after the fact. That's the difference: points reward loyalty to a programme. We reward the guest.
